Theatre Orchard - 65 reasons to be happy in Nailsea
Aptly named 65 Reasons to be Happy, the workshops will be led by renowned theatre-maker Angie Athay-Hunt, whose past experience includes heading up the Education Department at Bristol Old Vic Theatre.
Exploring the many things that can make us happy in fun, drama-based sessions, the daytime, weekly workshops will run regularly throughout April, May, June and July, from 19 April to 19 July. From obvious rib-ticklers like the timeless art of clowning to more personal sessions that focus on stories and memories, these workshops will be lively, welcoming and suitable for people of all ages and abilities.
A joint initiative with arts development charity, Theatre Orchard, and supported by Nailsea Town Council, this is the first time the workshops are being run in Nailsea, following the success of similar ventures in Weston-super-Mare where Theatre Orchard and Angie have worked together extensively over the past ten years.
Encouraging people to come along to the sessions, Angie Athay-Hunt said: “Whether it’s clowning around and laughing out loud, sharing stories that make you smile, learning to cherish yourself, or simply enjoying getting together with people over coffee and cake, there’s something for everyone!”
Fiona Matthews, Creative Director at Theatre Orchard, added: “Number 65 is a great, community space with a real buzz. Simply pop along to the free, drop-in sessions to feel inspired, get creative and above all, be happy!”
The 65 Reasons to be Happy workshops are drop-in sessions, with an open doors policy for anyone to come along. People are welcome to attend one or all of them and can just turn up on the day. Alternatively, they can find out more or register their interest in advance by calling Theatre Orchard on 07757 711783.

“Sometimes it’s good just to laugh. Whatever you are feeling just gets left at the door in our session. We get to play, rediscover some lightness!” Response by participant to recent workshops on clowning led by Angie Athay-Hunt In Weston-super-Mare.
