Have your say
On Thursday 27th August between 1.00-2.00pm the @NHSEngland twitter channel will dedicate this hour to Learning Disabilities, exploring the latest service model, discussing learning disability services and welcoming feedback via #TransformingCare.
They welcome general feedback about the service model and how we can improve services for people with learning disabilities via #TransformingCare; they will also explore the nine overarching principles that define what good services for people with learning disabilities look like:
- My care is planned, proactive and coordinated
- I have choice and control over how my health and care needs are met
- I live in the community with support from and for my family and paid carers
- I have a choice about where I live and who I live with
- I have a fulfilling and purposeful everyday life
- I get good care from mainstream NHS services
- I can access specialist health and social care support in the community
- I am supported to stay out of trouble
- If I need assessment and treatment in a hospital setting because my health needs can’t be met in the community, it is high-quality and I don’t stay there longer that I need to.
These principles allow for local innovation in re-designing services to meet local needs, while ensuring some national consistency across England and they want to know what you think. Join in on Thursday 27th August between 1-2pm, and spread the word about #TransformingCare.
