University hospitals Southampton offer leadership development opportunity
This is a partnership arrangement with Disabilities UK who deliver the course, which is a career development programme for people in employment living with a disability or health condition and is accredited with the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM).
Feedback from some of our staff with disabilities that attended the course in London indicated that whilst the course was a very useful and valuable experience, it was spoiled by the recovery time often required because of travelling to and from London, which impacted on their performance and attendance in their roles back in the workplace. As a result our funding enables us to deliver the programme regionally, reducing the amount of travel required yet still providing the same networking and project elements of the course.
We are looking to run the course here at University Hospital Southampton across 4 non-consecutive days between February and July 2019. There will be 16 places available to staff with disabilities, determined through an application process. As we have funding for the course the cost per individual will be significantly reduced. We are hoping to offer it for £650.
At this point we are looking for expressions of interest. Please can you confirm your organisation’s interest and the number of places you would like, to me by Friday 15th March 2019.
With the imminent introduction of the Workforce Disability Equality Standards (WDES) this is a very timely initiative and hope that your organisation will give it appropriate consideration.
