Dawn til Dusk celebration for World Mental Health Day
The Dawn til Dusk celebration, which takes place in Clevedon on Wednesday 10 October, includes an early morning dip in Clevedon Marine Lake, mindfulness sessions, a lantern parade and a seminar charting the history of mental health.
The event is organised by Warriors of Wellbeing, which is a collaboration between Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust (AWP), North Somerset Council and local charities supporting mental health and wellbeing.
The event aims to raise awareness of mental health conditions, encourage those who may be struggling with their mental health to seek support and to break down the stigma attached to mental health conditions.
AWP’s Clinical Director for North Somerset, Eva Dietrich, said:
“We are very excited about this event and would like to encourage as many people as possible to attend. An early morning swim, mindfulness sessions and the other activities can really have an impact on mood and how you manage your feelings. We want people to embrace this event and take a moment to think about their own mental health and how they are feeling.
“If you are struggling, or you are worried about someone who is, the single most important thing you can do is start a conversion, either about yourself or your friend or loved one.”
